Whether you’re buying-up companies like Beats, or just focusing on giving your own phones’ speakers a little more “oomph,” smartphone manufacturers have been paying a heck of a lot of attention to mobile audio lately. Back in late April we saw Samsung deliver its latest batch of offerings, announcing the Samsung Level lineup of premium audio gear. At the time, we didn’t have many details on sales of these devices, but today Samsung fills us in on what to expect as Level comes comes to the US.
Samsung’s partnering with online retailer Gift.com for the initial US Level release, which begins tomorrow afternoon. Following a few days of Gift’s exclusivity, Amazon starts sales on July 20, and Best Buy brings Level to its retail stores on July 27.
What about pricing? The wireless Level Over headphones will go for nearly $350, while the wired Level On cans will sell for more like $180. The Level In earbuds will fetch about $150, and the portable Bluetooth Level Box speaker will demand just under $170. A special bundle consisting of Level On and Level Box will be available from Gift.com for around $300, a $50 savings.
What we haven’t yet heard about, though, is any sort of promotional tie-in with Samsung phones. Is the company missing an opportunity there, or are premium-priced accessories like these better suited to positioning as fully separate purchases?
