One of the biggest issues that we’ve landed withiPhone review devices over the last couple of years is when the home button loses sensitivity. Some people make it a habit to forget that there is a “power/standby” key and use the home button for this action, and it’s a habit that has most-likely grown with Touch ID on the iPhone 5s since it’s now easier to unlock your phone through it. Apple hasn’t made any statements on the matter, but it seems that the company is planning to improve the design of the Touch ID sensor with the iPhone 6.
Images have surfaced of the new Touch ID sensor modules for the iPhone 6, and the shift in location of the screws will reportedly make the design more durable. It’s hard for a leaked photo to say more about the reasons why this new design is better, but given some additional rumors of changes in material for Touch ID sensors, we also know that these are planed to require a smaller footprint within the iPhone.
Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 is expected to launch in September according to recent reports. It’s hard to tell if Touch ID will continue with the same name or if Apple will find another one after the recent issues it’s facing with the USPTO, but we do know that this technology is spreading throughout Apple’s iOS line-up this year.
