Windows Phone 8.1 may not be the world’s preferred mobile operating system, but there is a reason for its current cult following. It’s simplicity, ease of use and reliability are well praised, and the fact that Microsoft has kept evolving the “Modern style UI” into something more functional with every software update means a lot. Still, there are some things that many of us wished we saw with the launch of Windows Phone 8.1, and at least one of those needs is reportedly going to be launched soon.
For the longest time, many of us have wanted to see folder options in the Start Screen, just like we currently find with Android and iOS. Nokia took a stab at this feature with its own Nokia Folders app, though with the limitation of being quite slow to respond. Microsoft apparently published a support page this morning claiming that folder support is coming to Windows Phone 8.1, though the link vanished minutes later.
Rumors have Microsoft’s first update to Windows Phone 8.1 ready for the public in around July or August, so stay tuned as this might be the day folders see the light.
