Microsoft is definitely out to finalize the project that it began more than a decade ago. Back in 2002, the company believed that a tablet is the best form-factor for productivity, even though Apple ended-up gaining more popularity with a more consumer-oriented approach. Still, that doesn’t mean Microsoft has lost hope for its ideal, and the Surface Pro 3 is probably the best product Microsoft could’ve ever launched to get that market going.
Microsoft’s biggest selling point for the Surface Pro 3 is that it can compete and derail the trend set by the MacBook Air, and to prove how much it believes in this, it’s willing to give you as much as $650 if you decide to trade-in your MacBook Air for a Surface Pro 3. Obviously this is almost half the price of a 13-inch MacBook Air if you bought one today, but it’s also just $150 less than the entry-level Surface Pro 3 that’s costing just $799.
We can’t tell you if any of us would be willing to follow this trade-in, mainly because we have mixed feelings on the Surface Pro 3 at the moment. Still, if you’re interested, you better act fast as the deal ends before July 2014.
