The HTC Hima has been in the headlines for quite some time now, and we thought that the phone could turn out to officially become the HTC One M9, successor to the 2014 flagship. While that might still be the case, today’s rumor talks about another device, the HTC Hima Ace Plus. We’ll look at the report in a bit, but before that, we need to not overlook the “Ace” and “Plus” monickers, which could indicate that the Hima could be the HTC Ace, or the HTC M9 Ace, while the HTC Hima Ace Plus could turn out to be the M9 Max. However, all of this is speculation on unverified reports, so keep your skeptical hat on.
Back to the report, it claims that the HTC Hima Ace Plus will have absolutely no bezels on the sides (left and right), whatsoever. The specs are pretty much identical to those we heard rumored for the Hima, except for the screen size, resolution, and other bits.
According to this report, which cites a source within HTC, we should expect the HTC Hima Ace Plus to pack a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD resolution at 2560×1440 pixels (with no bezels, as mentioned above). It would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 clocked at 2.3GHz, and pack 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory (probably expandable, though the report doesn’t mention card slots), a 3,000mAh battery, BoomSound, 20MP main camera, four-megapixel UltraPixel front-facer with flash, and, of course, Android Lollipop with Sense version 7 (as rumored to debut on the Hima). A fingerprint scanner would also be included, according to the report, which could operate even when the phone is in standby.
The report claims that this phone will see the official light of the day around August or September, and not MWC (where we expect the Hima), which lends more credence to our theory above that we’re looking at the HTC One M9 Max (the One M8 Max was left out of the 2014 line-up).
