After many long weeks of anticipation, Oppo has finally gone official with its two newest Android smartphones, the N3 and R5. We’re live in Singapore with the scoop on the phones, so read onward to find out more about both the high-end Oppo N3 and lower-end Oppo R5.
The N3 is a follow-up to the N1 of yesteryear (and don’t ask us why it’s not called the N2; we’re just as confused). It features a premium-looking body and top tier specs, along with a long-rumored motorized camera. Let’s begin with the build – there’s industrial-grade steel for the body of the phone, with a hollowed-out bottom and the same notification LED we showed our affection for on the N1.
Moving over to the specs, we’ve covered those in greater depth in a separate post, but we’ll give you the gist of it here. There’s a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch full HD display, and more. To be fair, it’s not quite a DROID Turbo, but these definitely aren’t bad (or even mid-range) specifications at this time. There’s also a 16MP swivel camera, with rotation up to 206 degrees.
Oppo also has announced the R5 today, the successor to its R3. It’s thin – just 4.85mm so, in fact – and also manages to look sharp despite being the younger brother to the N3. There’s a 1080p AMOLED display with a pixel density of 423ppi, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. It also brings along many of the software tricks of its older brother.
We’ve already given both phones the hands-on video treatment: you can find the Oppo N3 hands-on here, and the R5 is showcased right over here. And if you were itching for a full list of specs, look no further than here and here.
