Microsoft may beat Apple with a smartwatch this year

Even though the Apple Watch has created a lot of positive buzz for Apple, that doesn’t change the fact that not even Cupertino knows when it’ll launch the product. This poises a great opportunity for all smartwatch competitors in order to step their game up, and a perfect time to innovate based on what we already see in Android Wear and thePebble as well. Microsoft is one of those companies that’s been rumored to launch a smartwatch for the longest time, and today we get some more information.
Credible sources claim that Microsoft is already in advanced stages to be able to announce a smartwatch in the next coming weeks. Not only that, but the report also claims that the folks at Redmond are aiming to launch this product during the holiday season, something never before seen by Microsoft, and which would bring some timely competition to Android Wear, the Pebble and the Apple Watch. The report claims that this smartwatch will excel with 2 days of battery life, and that will also be focused on fitness as well. Even cooler, this will be a cross-platform product, and won’t force you to be part of the Windows ecosystem.
We still don’t have any Microsoft events in our radar, but if the company is able to pull this off in a smart way, with a good product and not just a rushed product, it could be on to something.
