Hankering for a new iPad? You’re in luck, as withApple’s next press event just days away, we’re almost certain to get news of at least one new iPad model. Most likely to make an appearance is the second-gen iPad Air, a tablet we’ve heard plenty about in leaks and rumors, as well as managed to recently check out on camera – well, at least a dummy unit. Today we step that up to what seems to be some real hardware, before looking some very well done concept renders.
First up are the components, and the most notable one here is the tablet’s main logic board. It’s a bit difficult to make out here, but that SoC sure looks like it could be marked “A8x.” There’s also home button cabling that appears to have all those lovely Touch ID bits from the iPhone, ready to bring fingerprint scanning to Apple’s tablet lineup for the first time.
As for these renders, there’s nothing here that should be too surprising (with the possible exception of that controversial camera bump) if you’ve been following the various component leaks and arrival of dummy hardware, but that doesn’t make this any less of an impressive job. Until Thursday rolls around, and Apple’s ready to publish its own iPad Air 2 imagery, this might be the best look at the tablet we’ll get.
Be sure to check back with Pocketnow on Thursday, October 16 for the full story on Apple’s product launches.
