Possible Samsung Gear VR shown off in new leaked image

Samsung has reportedly been looking to get into the virtual reality industry as of late, as leaks concerning its Gear VR have suggested. And those leaks are not all: a new report out of The Vergetoday suggests that a Samsung virtual reality headset may not be released too far into the future, even offering a first glimpse at what is likely the device in question.
First of all, we’d like to simply point out that The Verge does not corroborate the Gear VR moniker previously leaked in this report, though that’s what leaks in the past have detailed it as.
Moving on to the leak itself, we’ve now got a possible release date. Samsung will allegedly announce the virtual reality device at IFA 2014, likely at it’s UNPACKED 2014 Episode 2 event where the Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to break cover.
The headset is codenamed “Project Moonlight,” and it appears like the device itself is similar to what Google has done with Cardboard. You plug your phone in and suddenly you’re immersed in a world of virtual reality.
Previous leaks suggested that Oculus may be involved in the project, which wouldn’t be surprising considering that versions of the Rift use a Galaxy Note 3 display. The headset will likely work with the Galaxy S5 and Note 4, though we don’t know whether other Samsung phones (or other Android phones, for that matter), will be supported.
