Galaxy Note 4 pics leak; could this really be it?

Going back several months now, we’ve heard a lot about what to expect form Samsung and its next phablet, as rumors attempted to detail the Galaxy Note 4. With its Unpacked event coming up at IFA 2014, the Note 4′s launch may only be weeks away, and despite all this talk of quad HD displays, next-gen SoCs, and maybe even some sort of wrap-around screen, we haven’t really had much in the way of reliable leaks picturing the phone’s hardware itself. We get this week started with a series of images intent on doing something about just that, showing us a smartphone that may well be Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4.
We’ve got a handset, front and pack, as well as a shot of what’s supposed to be the packaging. What we see has the basic look of a Galaxy Note device – stylus, physical home button, and all – while taking more than a few design cues from the recently leaked pics of the Galaxy Alpha, what with its chamfered metal edges.
That said, something about these pics just looks a little “off,” and we wonder if they might not be some very high-quality fan renders put together with those Alpha leaks in mind. And while the handwritten “4” on the packaging is what we’d expect from the phone’s box, the rest of the container art fails to really look the part.
Then again, maybe this is how the Note 4 will really appear. Maybe we’re off about this being a render, but even if it is one, perhaps it actually is based on real hardware. For now, we’ll keep the design in mind and see if it doesn’t pop up again in the weeks between now and IFA.
