Going back a few months by this point, rumors have been closing in on the idea of a Microsoft smartwatch. Well, perhaps “wearable” would be a better term for it, as more recent claims of a dense array of sensors, both environmental and biological, as well as an elongated design more in common with fitness trackers might have gotten you thinking that this could be more FuelBand and less Android Wear. Today a new report arrives that reinforces this idea of a fitness-based wearable, as well as touches upon possible pricing.
If all this was sounding a lot like the Gear Fit, there’s probably a good reason for that, as sources suggest it would share much of the same functionality. There would still be a display and it would connect with your phone to get notifications, but it doesn’t look like we might be seeing much along the line of watch-based apps.
Its big selling point may be cross-platform support,an idea we’ve heard before. Mention of a Q4 launch lines up nicely with the October window that was offered earlier.
As for pricing, Microsoft’s band could arrive costing about the same as a “Samsung Gear.” This source doesn’t specify which Gear model, but given the context, we’re assuming the Gear Fit. In that case, the wearable would likely retail for close to $200.
