Most of the rumors that surround Apple lately have to do with the company’s plans to build a wearable. We’re still not sure that it’ll be called the “iWatch,” but we do know that the company has been hiring people from different sectors in health and fashion in order to build its first smartwatch. The sudden death of the Nike Fuelband has left a ton of very talented people available for such a task, and Apple is already taking action.
Two former Nike Fuelband employees have just updated their LinkedIn profiles to confirm that they work for Apple. The two new Cupertino employees are Jon Gale, who was part of Nike’s Digital Sport product team, and Ryan Bailey, who worked on testing the FuelBand fitness device. Gale’s new title within Apple is “Sensing Systems Engineer,” and Bailey’s new title at Apple is “Mechanical Design Engineer.”
We’ve seen more Nike Fuelband employees join Apple in the past, along with experts from other competing companies. The timing of their hiring does add a level of concern to the date we should expect the iWatch. Rumors continue to point to a launch by the end of this year, but with employees still being hired for the project, it’s hard to predict if it’s final or still in development.
