Today is July 3, meaning that the first orders of theLG G Watch from the Google Play Store will begin shipping later in the day. That means it’s high time that the official Android Wear app, meant to act as a companion to the watches on the market right now, debuts on the Play Store. Sure enough, it (along with a couple other launch apps) is now live.
The Android Wear app worked just fine as a minimal companion to Android Wear in our testing using an emulated Wear watch, so we’re assuming the experience will be very similar on working units.
The more exciting item is the whole section of the Play Store now dedicated to showing off Wear-supporting apps. There are things such as IFTTT, Fly Delta, American Airlines, and Eat24 (the latter of which was demonstrated on stage at Google I/O for quick pizza-buying; I sense a lot of impulse-food-buying coming).
There are a bunch of quality apps, too many to name here, so it’s in your best interests to take a look in case you ever get an Android Wear-powered timepiece of your own.
