Apple's ex design manager thinks smart watch is a foolish idea.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Esslinger told the world that he feels that “Smartwatches are stupid”, and his main argument was: “Why would I put cheap electronics on my wrist as a symbol of [my] emotion?” He feels that fitness trackers and smartwatches are more of a gimmick, and not really something useful or valuable to their users. It’s hard to tell if his thoughts have influenced Apple in holding back on launching the iWatch or not, but it clearly won’t be first in the market.
Obviously we’ve heard a ton of iconic designers criticize products from competing companies, and be wrong about it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and we’d love to hear what you have to think. Do you feel that smartwatches are still in their gimmick stage, or do you feel that they are useful? Leave us a comment.
