Apple’s crowned jewel for iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite is “Continuity”. At the moment the feature isn’t really working on the betas that we’ve tested, but the plan is that you can start something on your iPhone, and then continue it on your iPad or Mac. That said, if you thought that Apple was only planning to support the usual products, it seems that there is more in the pipeline.
With the launch of iOS 8 beta 2, Apple also updated OS X Yosemite and even updated the iOS version that runs on the Apple TV. The interesting part here is that the update includes options for Continuity to work on the Apple TV as well. It’s hard to predict how this is going to work, since at the moment you can easily mirror your iOS device or Mac to an Apple TV, and through AirPlay you can continue watching a movie on the Apple TV as well. Apparently this seem to work more like Google’s Chrome Cast, were the Apple TV will not need a host device to continue playing the content.
Whatever the case may be, it would be cool to see Apple’s hobby continue to grow-up. Let’s see what happens as more betas get launched.
