Apple hasn’t been seeing its best times when it comes to its iPod line-up, and these changes were expected. Apple at some point admitted that it would be smarter to cannibalize the iPod itself by selling the iPhone, than to see another company do it. As a result, the company has seen terrible quarter results with its music player, and it’s only logical that it should work on ways to make it more attractive.
Today Apple has decided to ditch its entry-level front-facing 16GB iPod Touch, and to launch a regular 16GB iPod Touch that has all the bells and whistles, aside from all the same color options, for the same $199 price tag. Apple has also dropped the price of its other storage options, now selling the 32GB model for $249 and the 64GB model for $299. This definitely gives the iPod some fresh air when compared to the entry-level price of the iPad mini, and even more interesting, it drops the gap between storage options from $100 to just $50, something that we still find unfair for the iPad and iPhone line-up.
These changes are effective today, so you can walk into any store and take advantage if you’re interested.
