The case for Samsung releasing a number of new Galaxy S5-series phones keeps looking stronger and stronger, and models like the GS5 Mini, GS5 Active, and this quad HD GS5 Prime keep picking up new evidence in support of their existence as they get closer and closer to official Samsung confirmation. Earlier this month we checked out a page on one of Samsung’s regional sites in Finland, which seemed to confirm support for the model number we had identified as the GS5 Mini. Today we return with a new twist on the same tale, as similar pages are uncovered for the GS5 Active.
While back then we were looking at Samsung model SM-G800F, today it’s SM-G850F that gets our attention. Not only does a holding page for this model exist on that Finnish Samsung site, but corresponding links on other Samsung European web destinations similarly reference the SM-G850F, including at least those for Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
What does this listing tell us about the Active? Much as in the case of that Mini find from a couple weeks back, not a heck of a lot – instead of offering up new details on the hardware, look at this as support for the idea that the G850 is nearing its official launch. For the moment, no particular date stands out as a possibility for when the Active and these other GS5 spin-offs might launch, but we wouldn’t be surprised to get word of launch plans any day now.
