Moto 360 News.

With the Google I/O event closing in, the excitement surrounding the smartwatch market keeps building up. Evidently, the reason for this is because Google is expected to unveil its new smartwatch platform, dubbed “Android Wear”.

The aforementioned extension to the Android OS has been officially announced several weeks ago, roughly at the same time during which Motorola has also announced its first Android Wear-powered smartwatch: the Moto 360. Mind you, while the 360 is not going to be the first wearable to make use of Google’s platform (that prize will go to the LG G Watch), Motorola’s smartwatch is indeed one of the more exciting wrist gadgets we’ve seen so far.
In case you’ve missed the time when the Moto 360was popping-up in the headlines more often than not, then you might want to catch up. Fret not though, as we have prepared a complete leak / rumor (and official details) round-up right after the break.

The one aspect that I think we can all agree on when it comes down to the Moto 360 is the fact that the smartwatch in question is less conservative than its competitors. It boasts a beautiful design that makes it worthy of being a fashion item, but these characteristics might come at a cost.
Previous rumors have hinted that the Moto 360 will feature an OLED display boasting an always-on function, sapphire glass and magnetic induction wireless charging capabilities. However, sapphire glass is pretty darn expensive, and given the smartwatch’s rounded design (which could also bring in some rather interesting looking apps), the gadget is quite difficult to manufacture.

As such, some previous rumors have indicated that the 360 will either besold in limited quantities, or that it will have a rather steep price tag.
Other details that have been already confirmed suggest that the gadget’s dial will measure 1.8 inches, and that the watch will be orientation free. The strap will also be changeable and Motorola is expected to make straps from different materials, including leather and metal.
Needless to say, the Moto 360 appears to beplaying in a league of its own, and both the Gear 2 and the G Watch seem to pale in comparison. The“Span” project might become a threat to the 360, but sadly, the chances of that happening seem rather slim at this point in time.
