Mother’s Day, at least here in the US, falls on May 11 this year. However, that didn’t stop Motorola from throwing its one-day Moto X sale(theoretically in response to the holiday) over a week early, taking place back on May 1. Today we learn about another manufacturer offering its own Mother’s Day deal, again with a limited-time one-day promotion, and again occurring quite a few days in advance of Mother’s Day itself, as HTC announces plans for a sale tomorrow.
Unlike that Moto X deal, which targeted off-contract sales, HTC is only putting forth this offer for on-contract purchases; that’s somewhat of a let-down, but the savings might still be worth it to those of you still interested in subsidies.
All day long on May 8, HTC will offer the One M8 for Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon for just about $100 on-contract. We see that Verizon is already selling the One M8 for the same price, but for Sprint and AT&T users, this could still be a nice deal. It’s also open inclusively to new and upgrading subscribers, which may matter if your ability to take advantage of offers elsewhere has been limited by your current contract.
The idea of giving on-contract phones as gifts still feels pretty weird to us (I just wanted to say “thank you” by giving you this recurring bill?), but we suppose you could always pick up one of these discounted One M8s for yourself; we won’t tell mom if you don’t.
