These last few weeks have seen the Lumia 635 creeping up on us here in the States, following the smartphone’s formal introduction back at Build in early April. T-Mobile was quick to announce its support for the 635 even back then, and lately it’s just been a question of when the phone would get around to arriving. We saw it make the requisite swing by the FCC in late May, signaling things were progressing on their way towards retail availability, but then just last week we witnessed Microsoft abruptly halt pre-orders; was something wrong? Fret not, as today T-Mobile goes official with 635 sales details for both itself and MetroPCS.
The first day you’ll be able to purchase the 635 for T-Mobile is this coming Saturday, June 5, and just like last year with the 521, there’s a special Home Shopping Network tie-in, giving its customers first crack at the phone.
The staggered rollout continues with postpaid T-Mobile sales beginning online on July 9. After that, select T-Mobile retail stores get the phone on July 16, and MetroPCS rounds things out with its own availability beginning July 18.
At MetroPCS the 635 will run you just about $100, and while T-Mobile isn’t yet offering a flat outright price for its own 635, the monthly payments it spells-out come to just under $170 over the course of two years.
We know that Windows Phone 8.1 updates are coming soon to existing phones, but if you’re looking for a from-the-ground-up WP8.1 solution that’s the whole package – new firmware and all, not just the dev preview – the 635 may just be your ticket to get Microsoft’s latest mobile platform before all your friends. Anyone planning to pick one up?
