The Sony Xperia Z2a will most probably see the light of day next month in Taiwan, according to reports, but there is still no information on whether we’ll see a wider, maybe even global roll-out of the device. When compared spec-to-spec with theflagship Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z2a has a lot in common with its bigger brother, but, at the same time, it’s also different in some aspects.
What the Xperia Z2a and the Z2 have in common are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, the 20.7MP camera with the Exmor RS sensor, and, of course, the water and dust-resistant build wearing IP55/IP58 certifications.
Where they differ is the screen size; the Xperia Z2a has a smaller, five-inch screen (still 1080p, though not an IPS panel), 3,000mAh battery (versus 3,200mAh on the Z2), and the .3MP front-facer (compared to the 2.2MP webcam on the flagship).
