If we had to compare today’s Sony Xperia offerings with what Sony-Ericsson offered years ago, I’m sure we can all agree that this is a far better company. The Japanese giant has become much more aggressive about its smartphone line-up both in hardware and in software, and even though it continues to be slow in the US market, its Asian offerings are great. Those of you that were wondering what’s so hot about the Sony Xperia Z2athat was announced a couple of days ago, the answer is a lot as back then we only had reports, and the official launch didn’t make the specs official.
Even though Sony made the Xperia Z1 Compact just as powerful as the Xperia Z1, it’s hard to call the Xperia Z2a a compact phone, as it’s barely 0.2-inches smaller than the Xperia Z2. Instead, this device is like comparing the Xperia Z with the Xperia ZL from early 2013, where both devices are almost identical, one just being made of more plastic than the other. That statement is actually not far from true as this is identical to the Xperia ZL2 that was launched in Japan recently. In a similar fashion the Xperia Z2a offers identical specifications to the Xperia Z2, except that the Xperia Z2a has a plastic back instead of glass.
Sadly those of you wanting some extra sturdiness on the back of your Xperia will have to wait, as this is apparently slated for Asia at the moment.
