Sales of the first Android Wear smartwatches may be open, but the Moto 360 with its circular display doesn’t yet find itself among them; at I/O yesterday, Google confirmed that it would still be a little longer before the 360 was ready for public release, but that it’s still on track to land sometime this summer. Even with that wait to deal with, there’s still new Moto 360 news to be had, and this week we see Motorola reveal the winner of
the 360 design contest the company had been running.
Motorola invited designers to come up with an attractive watch face for the Moto 360, taking advantage of the smartwatch’s display to create an interface that’s practical, informative, and maybe most importantly, aesthetically pleasing.
The winner, selected by means of votes from 360 fans like you, comes from David Pascual, and combines status indicators with user-defined notification widgets for a dense but not overwhelmingly busy layout.
Pascual picks up a Moto 360 of his own for his efforts, and Motorola may end up converting his design into an official 360 watch face – though the company stops short of outright committing to making it available.
