Google I/O 2014 is just one week away, and one of the many reasons we’ve been looking forward to the conference has been for what it will mean for Android Wear. When LG first announced its G Watch Android Wear smartwatch back in March, it mentioned plans for a second quarter introduction, and July (along with Q3) is creeping up on us fast. We’ve also heard that the G Watch might be an I/O giveaway to attendees, hinting at imminent retail availability. Now we’ve got one more sign of a pending retail launch, as some G-Watch-related text shows up on the German version of the Google Play Store.
It’s not clear just what happened, but from the screenshots we’ve seen it appears that some database got misconfigured and the text that normally describes the categories for the Play Store’s listing of hardware devices was briefly replaced with text from the G Watch’s listing.
We can see clear mentions of the Watch’s 400mAh battery – the same capacity revealed in a recent leak – as well as its “continuously active display.”
Sure, no obvious G Watch graphics showed up alongside this text, and there’s still no sign of a product page, but even just this text is pretty hard to ignore, and combined with everything else, it really has the G Watch looking like it’s nearly ready to go up for sale.
