Nexus 6 to be on impressions of the LG G3 ?

Google I/O should answer a few outstanding questions about where Android’s heading as the conference gets underway this Wednesday, and one that we know has been on a lot of your minds has concerned the future of the Nexus series of devices. Will we see a new tablet – maybe a Nexus 8 or Nexus 9? And what are the chances that Google could deliver another Nexus smartphone this year – a presumed Nexus 6 – before the rumored Android Silver transition gets underway? Even if we don’t see specific product announcements this week, we’re still hoping to get a better sense for where Google’s priorities are. The story surrounding the Nexus 6 has been mired in uncertainty, leaving us wonderingeven which OEM might produce such a phone, and while we still don’t have that answer, a new source is chiming-in with at least some detail about the model’s hardware.
An unidentified source “close to the [Nexus] project” asserts that the Nexus 6 will get a 5.5-inch display. There’s no corresponding mention of resolution, nor of a specific manufacturer, but the way that size aligns with the 5.5-inch quad HD screen on the LG G3 seems perfectly suited to raising a few eyebrows – sure, other 2014 flagships have pushed forward with larger screen sizes than in previous years, but few have gone all the way up to 5.5 inches like LG has with the G3.
Still, without more corroboration it’s difficult to place a lot of faith in this account – and wouldn’t it seem that someone so close to the project, with access to info about hardware details, should be able to put together a little more intel than just a screen measurement? We’re less than fully convinced, but it’s something we’ll be keeping in mind this week as Google I/O gets underway.
