When LG unveiled the G3 late last month, carriers were quick to chime-in with word of their interest; within hours of the handset making its debut, we had heard from all the major US networks, saying they were looking forward to adding the G3 to their lineups this summer. OK, that at least gives us a window for when to expect the phone, but can we narrow it down a little to something more useful? Would the G3 debut right around June 21, first day of summer, or were we looking more at July, August, or (god forbid) early September? Based on the contests some of these carriers have been running, we’ve been wondering if late June/early July might be the most likely time for the G3′s arrival in the States, but today we set our sights a couple weeks further out, as a new leak names a release date for Verizon.
According to this info, apparently grabbed from an in-house computer system, Verizon intends to open pre-orders for the G3 on Thursday, July 10, before releasing the smartphone one week later on July 17.
Those Thursday dates are consistent with Verizon’s modus operandi, and despite some minor grammar errors in the copy here, the leak seems genuine enough.
Now, it’s no certainty that a July 17 Verizon release date means that the other US carriers will get the phone right around the same time, but seeing as they all expressed initial interest right on launch day, we wouldn’t be surprised if they all ended up selling the smartphone at roughly the same time, as well.
The other big G3 question still hanging up in the air is US pricing. Something around $650 off-contract and $200 on- sounds like a safe bet, but confirmation has yet to arrive.
