HTC M8 Gpe to get android L update.

One of the many promises of Google Play edition devices was quick updates to the latest and greatest version of Android. After the launch of the developer previewAndroid L, it was assumed that the Google Play edition devices (especially the new one, the HTC One M8) would promptly get the update when it becomes official this fall. Today we’re receiving confirmation of the One M8 Google Play edition Android L update, right from HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon.
One of the biggest features of Android L is Material Design, which HTC’s Sense 6 software already shows quite a bit of resemblance to. The Google Play editions don’t have Sense though, so it’s nice to hear that a prompt update to L is in order.
We’ve already heard that the HTC One M7 and M8 (the regular versions) will be getting the updates upon 90 days after the delivery of code to HTC, so it’s fairly safe to assume that the One M7 Google Play edition will also get the update quickly. The other Google Play editions are also all expected to get the update soon after Nexus devices.
As for when Android L itself will launch, everything points to this fall. It’ll allegedly launch alongside a new HTC-made “Volantis” tablet, which we’ve yet to hear official word about.
