It hasn’t even been a week yet since Samsung announced its first major Galaxy S5 refresh, outfitting the flagship Android with a Snapdragon 805 SoC and bumping up the display to feature a quad HD panel for the phone’s release to support high-speed LTE-Advanced networks in South Korea. But all those internal upgrades aside, the phone still looked very much like the GS5 with which we’re familiar – same divot-ridden rear panel its predecessor launched with. Now it looks like the LTE-A GS5 is getting yet another update, as we receive word of a special edition of the smartphone, bringing it a new textured look.
What we’ve got here is a version of the LTE-A GS5 for Olleh, which is owned by carrier KT. Instead of the grid-like array of dots present on other GS5 editions, we get a fancy diamond pattern. It’s a little busy, especially when its facets catch the light just right, and while we’re sure some shoppers might prefer a more plain, restrained look for the GS5, we just like the idea of having any secondary option at all.
Like the regular GS5 LTE-A model, we haven’t caught wind of any plans to bring this special edition to markets outside South Korea, but maybe you Samsung fans hungry for change can still take heart in seeing this model arrive as it is – giving at least some support to the idea that Samsung could be planning to expand upon its design offerings and mix things up a little more with its next generation of handsets.
