Whether Samsung ends up calling its quad HD handset the Galaxy F or the Galaxy S5 Prime is still up in the air (and you may have noticed us going back and forth on the naming, with no clear front-runner having yet emerged) but what no one seems to be doubting anymore is that it’s coming, one way or another. We’ve had a couple opportunities recently to share with you possible images of the hardware, but this afternoon we put the pics to the side and start digging through some paperwork, checking out the FCC certification for the phone.
We’re looking at Samsung models SM-G906S, G906K, and G906L – those are model numbers that we’ve seen before, representing South Korean carrier variants of the same hardware. The FCC paperwork reveals band support that fits this role of a handset for South Korea, and we see the usual assortment of Bluetooth, WiFi, and NFC capabilities.
So, is there nothing new and interesting to be found here? Well, there is at least one worthwhile tidbit revealing itself in this paperwork, and that concerns the phone’s dimensions. As you can see in the illustration below, the handset measures 142mm x 72.5mm, the same size as the original Galaxy S5. That’s despite an ever-so-much larger 5.2-inch display on the Prime/F, a development that makes a lot of sense when we consider the very slim bezels that appeared to be present in that most recent leaked imagery.
