Microsoft has announced the availability of Office 365 Personal for individual users in the Indian market. Office 365 Personal allows users to connect up to two home devices to use the cloud-based document editing and office software.
Office 365 is the same Microsoft Office experience, presented as a cloud service, so it allows users to pause and resume work on different devices. With a 365 Personal subscription, you can have Microsoft Office on two separate devices at home. The suite comprises Word, PowerPoint, Excel, One Note and more. A Office 365 Personal subscription allows you to use the software on tablets including iPads, and a single Windows or Mac PC. Monthly subscription is Rs 330, while buying a year’s subscription gives you a small discount.
The company says it’s targetting 25 million new Indian consumers with its various devices. Microsoft also showcased new functionality in its existing services such as Bing, IE, Skype etc.
Those using Bing can now use Venue Maps to easily navigate malls across India. Venue Maps show the interior and exterior of a building as a layer on top of Bing Maps, with store names and precise location. The maps are enabled through combination of Nokia Maps location data and publicly-available information such as maps put up by a mall or a concert venue. Currently, 120 malls and three airports (Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi) are supported by Venue Maps.
Several extra features have also been added to Bing Search on Windows Phone devices. Users searching for local destinations on their Windows Phones will automatically be provided directions, with an option for turn-by-turn navigation.
Microsoft has also made Skype group video calling free for the Xbox One, Windows desktop and Mac. The company says that Skype will deliver free group video calling across all platforms soon.
Finally, Microsoft is trying to showcase the 3D prowess of Internet Explorer. The 3D FishGL is a colorful, nautical-themed WebGL graphics benchmark. It’s meant to inspire web developers who want to offer a 3D browsing experience on Windows PCs.
