If there’s one thing we simply must congratulate Microsoft for, is for how well Windows Phone can run on any processor in the market. It’s clear that no matter how cheap or powerful the guts behind the device are, as long as it runs Windows Phone, you should be just fine in almost ever case. That said, since the spec war has become quite compelling for many consumers, we have seen manufacturers like Nokia upping the ante on the spec sheet to compete with Android devices, and new rumors point to better processors reaching Windows Phone, but from another OEM.
Asian sources claim that ZTE is building a new Nubia W5 smartphone. The device would be the first Windows Phone to be powered by the Snapdragon 801 chip, and other specs include 3GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. The rear-facing camera will apparently reach 13MP and it would also feature optical image stabilization. Even more interesting is that aside from its LTE connectivity, it’ll also sport a gigantic 4500mAh battery.
If these rumors are true, ZTE would give us the most powerful Windows Phone in the market. It’s hard to tell how big the phone is at the moment, but that display must be huge if the company plans to fit that battery in the chassis. ZTE hasn’t been famous for releasing high-end smartphones in the US, but this could be the start of something good. We’ll keep you posted as more news develop.
